OPTICAL OPTIONS FOR THE FALL
(Los Angeles, CA) AUGUST 1, 2009 — With checks and plaids still making fashion waves for Fall, Ian Saudē's Optic Check Mufflers have things all wrapped up.
Saudē's rustic handloomed cashmere fuse with modern urban patterns and detailing, creating mufflers that combine the best of both worlds. Sized at 22 x 80 inches, they can provide plenty of ultra soft warmth and are long enough to drape for a casual, unstructured look. This versatile size allows them to be worn as either a neck scarf or as an over-the-shoulder wrap.
Optic Check Mufflers are available in three different designs that range from subtle to statement making: a windowpane check in charcoal/natural with Silver Lurex accents (95% Cashmere, 5% Lurex); Black and White Houndstooth (100% Cashmere); and a Caramel/Cocoa reverse check with Silver Lurex accents (95% Cashmere, 5% Lurex).
Ian Saudē offers a lifestyle line that currently centers on cashmere. Throws, oversized blankets, travel blankets and personal accessories like scarves and wraps comprise the line. Assortments change seasonally, but most of the pieces are hand-loomed in the Nepal Himalayas using finest-quality cashmere from Mongolia and the Tibetan Plateau. Yarns are hand or machine-spun, and generally use around 15 micron long staple fibers — significantly more refined than the 18-19 micron short fiber yarns that can legally be labeled "cashmere" in the United States.
Ian Saudē began his design career on a trip to the Himalayas to study Buddhist philosophy, where he subsequently lived for more than a decade. Working closely with artisans and craftspeople throughout the Himalayas and elsewhere in Asia over many years, Ian brings a wealth of expertise and insight to creating products that showcase his unique aesthetic sensibility, subtly referencing both Eastern and Western artistic traditions in a way that is thoroughly contemporary. He has collaborated on cashmere accessories for top European fashion houses including Giorgio Armani, Lanvin, Zegna, Agnona and others.
Optic Check mufflers are available at Erica Tanov in NYC and San Francisco; Cashmere INC. in Greenwich, CT; Girl Boy Girl in Carmel, CA; Broken English in Brentwood, CA and other retailers of unique apparel. The Ian Saudē:
brand was launched in 2008, and the full line can be found at
