IAN SAUDĒ CASHMERE FOR SPRING — SOFT, SUPPLE AND LIGHT AS A CLOUD

(Los Angeles, CA) January 28, 2009 — Known for its fine texture, cashmere is also a fiber that is light, soft and warm; in other words, perfect for spring when the weather can be unpredictable.

Introducing his new collection of all season cashmere accessories, designer Ian Saudē says, "Cashmere could be considered an affordable luxury, since in many climates, lightweight cashmere wraps are practical accessories, something that can be worn in every season. Their appeal is timeless. They're a creature comfort that you can take with you everywhere and that makes you feel safe and cocooned even when the wolves are at the door."

In addition to his existing line of classic wraps and cashmere home accessories, Saudē is introducing five new items for Spring. The Wrinkle Stole is a blend of cashmere and silk, and has a casual, contemporary look. It can be gathered up as a neck scarf or worn as a stole; and easily twisted into a compact ball to stow in a purse or tote. Since it is naturally wrinkled, the twisting helps contribute to the look. Available in natural, wheat, grey-green, corolla, razzle and new leaf.

Organic and handcrafted in appearance, Saudē's Random Weave Stole is made from super-fine cashmere yarn that is dyed by hand to achieve subtle, variegated color effects in seasonal shades. Since each yarn lot is hand-dyed, every piece is individual and unique.

The unlikely blend of linen and cashmere combines the best of both worlds — resulting in lighter-than-air fabric that is almost transparent yet insulating. Available in golden beige, turquoise, pink, and aqua, these brightly colored Lino Stoles combine the crisp summery feeling of linen with the subtle softness and loft of the finest cashmere yarns.

Flirty and feminine, the Ruffle is a great scarf to dress up the neckline of a suit or jacket. Made from gauze-like cashmere and a touch of lycra, its horizontal pleats form a natural ruffle. Available in cream, natural, winter rose, oceanic blue, sea glass, corolla and eggplant. Celebrities adore Ian Saudē — Academy Awardª winner Penelope Cruz (Vicki Cristina Barcelona) and nominees Amy Adams (Doubt) and Melissa Leo (Frozen River) all have Ian Saudē'Ruffle' neck scarves.

For his fifth new offering, Ian Saudē's Paisley Print Stole is pure retro heaven. Featherly light, these shawls are extremely versatile and will compliment a variety of styles from classic to new bohemian. Printed on soft pastel backgrounds, they come in soft pastels like peach, powder blue and pale minty green.

Ian Saudē offers a lifestyle line that currently centers on cashmere. Throws, oversized blankets, travel blankets and personal accessories like scarves and wraps comprise the line. Assortments change seasonally, but most of the pieces are hand-loomed in the Himalayan kingdom of Nepal using cashmere from Mongolia and the Tibetan Plateau. Yarns may be machine or hand-spun, and generally use around 15 micron long staple fibers - significantly more refined than the 18-19 micron short fiber yarns that can legally be labeled "cashmere" in the United States.

Ian Saudē began his design career on a trip to the Himalayas to study Buddhist philosophy, where he subsequently lived for more than a decade. Working closely with artisans and craftspeople throughout the Himalayas and elsewhere in Asia over many years, Ian brings a wealth of expertise and insight to creating products that showcase his unique aesthetic sensibility, subtly referencing both Eastern and Western artistic traditions in a way that is thoroughly contemporary. He has collaborated on cashmere accessories for top European fashion houses including Giorgio Armani, Lanvin, Zegna, Agnona and others.
