FASHION & ACCESSORIES
ELEMENTS OF STYLE
Our fashion pieces are as much about the materials we use as they are about the overall design. Doing much of our spinning, weaving, dying and finishing work by hand allows us an extraordinary amount of creative control, while preserving traditional methods of craftsmanship that help provide education & employment. We can take the time to focus on the details.
In America, people often equate the value or quality of cashmere and other fine wool products with their weight — bulkier scarves, knitwear or blankets are generally thought to be better. While this perception can sometimes hold true, it is often mistaken. The highest quality materials made from fine-micron yarns with long staple fibers don’t need to add weight or bulk to generate exceptional warmth and comfort.
IAN SAUDE
Living in the Nepal Himalayas for almost 14 years gave me a respect not only for the rareness and expense of high quality cashmere, but also for it’s practical value. The finest yarns are exceptionally warm while still being light as a feather. This combination of being lightweight while highly insulating is ideal for creating versatile garments that move with you, that are easily layered and which are often more comfortable to wear.

When channeling the extraordinary properties of luxury fibers like cashmere, silk and linen, or when combining them with natural plant-derived synthetics like modal or spun bamboo, comfort is always our primary consideration.
Our accessories must not only look good, they also need to feel good . We want them to convey a sense wholesomeness and nurturing, while still being fun to wear

In this age of artificial materials and “performance” textiles, there is still something undeniably appealing and authentic about honest handmade fabrics created from natural fibers that retain their original organic appeal.
Therefore, at IAN SAUDE we focus primarily on natural yarns in native colors — often spun or woven by hand. Supplemented by creative looming, dying and finishing techniques , the materials themselves help provide the garments with a uniquely human point of view.

Working for decades in the Himalayan cashmere industry, IAN SAUDE has not only developed his own branded accessory collections but has also spearheading numerous private label projects for other well known fashion designers and brands.
Over time, having worked on styles ranging from classic knits and wovens to heavily embellished evening pieces, his focus still remains primarily on styles that express a rustic, understated luxury.
